Purpose:
  • To bring people together in the McCall, Idaho area who share a common interest and special admiration in the spirit and life of Clive Staples Lewis.
  • To sharpen our minds and build one another up in the Christian faith through the reading, discussion and critique of literary works published and unpublished.
  • To provide opportunities for people to expand and to deepen their understanding of literature and to learn more about the craft of writing by exposure to local, regional, national and international published writers and poets.
  • To establish an Annual Writers Workshop each spring.
How the C.S. Lewis Society is to be conducted:
Our Moderator is Rev. Thomas R. Penry III, Director of DayStar Life Ministries.

Discussion guidelines:
Discussion and Critique at the C.S. Lewis Society of McCall is more than just airing opinions- we want to hear thought provoking reactions, and thoughts to the literary work that is being discussed. We encourage a respectful exchange of disagreements and mutual agreement.

The following are guidelines reflect those qualities:
  • Must be considerate of the time and effort that one has contributed to their work.
  • Must be respectful to opposing views.
  • Must contribute something constructive to the literary work discussed.

The following are things to avoid in your comments:
  • Disrespect in any of its forms.
  • Abusive language that is meant to belittle.

Meeting Schedule
Meetings are normally held the third Thursday of every month, 7:00 – 9:00 p.m., for discussion. If someone has not read the book we are currently reading, they are still welcome to attend. We foresee also having special lectures and other events in the future. The current meeting location is (to be announced).
