The Intent
DayStar Life Ministries was born out of the desire to Glorify God through the person of Jesus Christ. Biblically, this is carried out with a commitment to the Great Commission (Matthew 28: 18-20) and to the Principles of the Kingdom of God (Matthew 5:3-12, 6:33; Mark 1:14-15; Luke 17:20-21; John 3:4-6).
We believe that the Kingdom and the Great Commission are foundational to any ministry that one may pursue. The key is to activate one’s place within the Biblical Narrative – Creation, Fall, Redemption and Consummation.
We find Creation, Fall and Redemption from Genesis to Acts chapter 28. The Consummation is primarily found in the Book of Revelation. We are to fill the gap between Acts 28 and Revelation.
Our task is to find our narrative, that is, our story within the greater Biblical context. This connects directly to the personalities and events of Scripture. Within this Biblical Narrative we are found inseparably connected to the Patriarchs of antiquity, the Prophets of old, and the Apostles of a new Covenant.
We seek to activate this mission within this narrative by means of conducting Dynamic Leadership Conferences, Decisive Evangelism Outreaches and Dedicated Educational Programs. Acts 2:1-47
The Inspiration
DayStar Life Ministries finds its heart in the life and ministry of Glenn and Doris Loomis. Glenn and Doris’s dream of a Conference Center began in 1950, holding tent meetings, etc. at the Loomis Ranch on the shores of Cascade Reservoir until 1971 when six teen-age boys – products of the Jesus movement – were invited by the Donnelly Bible Church to spend the summer sharing their faith with local residents.
Glenn and Doris volunteered to house the boys for the summer. As a result of the boys sharing their summer adventure with friends, young people (age 9 to 29) began to flock to the Ranch. Some, such as a straight-A student from Stanford University, came just for fun. Others – drug abusers, teen-age burglars and a paranoid schizophrenic. Although playing surrogate parents to hundreds of children was not in Glenn and Doris’ original dream, the boys and girls were the impetus that inspired the building of DayStar.
Upon acquiring a pile of building materials in 1973, Glenn challenged the boys, who had been helping on the ranch, to build a bunkhouse. Later, came the DayStar Lodge, StarLight Inn, a Chapel and Library. Thus the dream took shape and lives were changed because of two faithful servants – Glenn and Doris Loomis.
Doris captured the true heart of DayStar, when she was talking to a several young people who were in the process of building, “DayStar is love! If all you’re doing is without love than you’re just piling up a pile of sticks.”
DayStar Life Ministries seeks to capture that heart and in so doing, carry on the ministry that was conceived in Glenn and Doris’ heart since 1950.
